Documentary Voice Over

I have voiced a number of documentary projects on subjects ranging from the natural world to history to social issues.

In documentary work, the job of the voice talent is to underscore the images and convey the emotion of the story in such a way that the audience is held captive.

Like a wonderful film score, a good documentary voice over does not draw attention to itself, but draws the viewer/listener into the narrative. Instead of voice OVER, I’ve often thought this form of narration might more aptly be called voice UNDER.

I was proud to narrate the English voice over for the documentary Propaganda, which was awarded the Founders Grand Prize for Best Film at Michael Moore’s film festival in Travis City.

I had the pleasure of working in person with director, Slavko Martinov, to create the particular ironic and mesmerizing tone called for by this controversial film, whose on-camera narrator spoke in Korean.
